Vain and Vanity

I have used the word Vain and Vanity very often without really understanding what that means.

According to Merriam-Webster.com,

Vain is defined as having no real value : idle, worthless <vain pretensions>

Vanity is defined as something that is vain, empty, or valueless.

So, its quite interesting that something that means worthless means so much to so many people and our society.

Well, I am starting my research on all things vain first stop http://www.vainmag.com/

Check it out.
